Before I get crucified for this idea, (Like I did on ANOTHER online Jeep community since I am such a new member...) I have an idea for a new forum.

How about a "Jeep rebuild/restoration/how do I get this pile of cornflakes road legal again?" forum?

I have THOUSANDS of questions that I am having to spend alot of time figuring out. This whole project that I have taken over DIED due to lack of help in 1987 due to lack of help with all the little things!

YES, I realize there is a CJ forum.
Yes, I realize there is a Vintage forum.
Yes, I realize there is a "For Sale" section.

The CJ forum addresses such questions such as lift, which winch, lockers, Jeep identification, etc. THIS forum could be a:

"Where does THIS bolt to?!"
"Any restos in the Canfield, Ohio area I can look at?"
"How did you line up your fiberglass body?"
"Anyone have a set of hinges for a 72 CJ?"

THIS is the internet site to do it at! A forum hosted by 4wd!

Advertise it in the catalog!
TELL customers in the showroom about it!
Advertise it online on the website!

For years, my Father and I cursed fiberglass body restorations. Now that I "Have a little help from my friends," it is going well, and should be running this weekend. 4WD needs to have a vested interest in this! The more Jeep projects that are left unfinished, the MORE people will see/hear about them and be less interested in doing one themselves or starting a restoration. An online community would help people STAY focused, find an outlet for those little nagging questions, and make a Jeep resto easier for everyone!

What do you guys say? I even have a 4wd employee in mind for moderator!

I agree with that idea. I have a 63 that I am going to be restoring soon. To have some help right here would be nice. Especially when there are people like Big Boro out there that have done stuff like this. You got my vote.

Well, the only thing with that is you may not get the traffic in a seperate forum that you would get in the CJ forum. With more and more forums, some will get less traffic. I personaly would not go there since I am not restoring anything, but I might have some answers that I would give in theCJ forum. Just my thought. Not against the idea, just not for it.

OK, the CJ forum and vintage forums MIGHT get less traffic, but it would allow for a more FOCUSED approach to "restoration" (For lack of a better word...) questions.

Talk tech, gadgeets, aftermarket upgrades, "Hey, you wont believe this", Jeep news, etc in the CJ forum. Once people learn that 4wd has not only good parts, a free catalog, but ALSO a huge online resource to help them,...

BAM! People get the help they need, people get back on the trails!

I like the idea. Getting more forums might draw in people. I've been to a few that only had a few sections to it and it just didn't cut it for me.

I check into those everyonce and a while to see whats going on. It might not have to be listed just as a Jeep rebuild/restoration but Jeep projects. restoration kinda sounds like they limit to only older jeeps like cj's. Man this is kinda a hard one to structer isn't it. Cause a lift is kinda a jeep project but yet you would want that in the xj yj tj cj section.

hard to say but yes I think it would be a good forum to add.

this is how jeepforum has theirs.

This forum is for write-ups on larger projects that will benefit others. PLEASE read rules before posting.

Who might this be??? :g

I hear you guys and I agree how this could be helpful. I don't however want to keep adding forums and new forums etc etc. It could get pretty confusing. Have you seen JU lately, for example. I am not saying no though. Let me see is there is a demand for this type of forum before I add it.

My thoughts exactly.
But Jdogg's idea is good, maybe a jeep projects help forum? But I still feel the issues could be resolved in the individual forums that already exist.

I've been reading there project page and I would have to say most of those are just people posting pic's of there latest project not so much asking for help or quesitons about how to do this and that. I think at this point most of those questions can be handled in there own forums.

I'll drop the idea for a :

"JEEP REBUILD SECTION"

I realize this would milk away traffic from other forums, but I think it would create new traffic, and get deserving Jeeps back on the road/trail! Get them BACK on the trail (With fresh 4WD fiberglass bodies), and you get people visiting the CJ5 and wrangler forums!

..I just thought it fit in with the whole 4WD/parts/repair/rebuild style...

Oh yeah, I was going to recommend CJSIXER as the moderator.

It's a good idea by all means. I just don't see a need for it on here..yet. When we get more traffic in here, it would definitely be a forum I'd add.
