I just purchased a new pro comp 4" lift to replace my old sagging 2 1/2" skyjacker for my 92 YJ. I was wondering the time it would take to install the lift(im a college student so i need to try and plan a weekend to install it) I was also wondering if a c-v driveshaft is necessary even with the included t-case drop kit and degree shims for the rear leafs? Thanx for all the input

i am running the 4" procomp on my 90'. i don't have the extended cv or slip yolk or anything but the tran drop. i have never had a problem. i am running 35" with a 4 popper spinning them in the mud like crazy. if you have the money and the time, i'm sure it would be a great idea, i don't have either so i am hoping for the best. :D

dont bother with the brake lines or cv shaft because the pro crap springs will sag after a couple weeks any ways, sorry for the negitive attitude but i have seen to many bad pro comp lifts....

depends on how you work.....if you are a bit slower or get distracted easily by other things you want to fix, it will take the better part of a weekend....if u get right to it, it should take one good day of work. I would think you would be Ok, but i would see how it works out for you with just the t-case kit, no need in spending money you dont have to.
dave, the fact is he DID buy this lift and hes asking for some help, say something constructive or dont say anything, we are not here to bash each others choice in products. And i have seen people that are happy with their pro comp lifts and products, and they didnt look to bad either....

I would say go with a MM lift first nd then try the t-case lowering. You may be able to get by with just that.

A Motor Mount lift is used to lift the engine, usually 1"-2", that helps to reduce or stop vibrations in the driveshaft caused by a suspension lift. It replaces the stock motor mounts. It helps to get the angle of the rear driveshaft more in line from the transfer case to the rear axle. When you use a MM lift, you may need to move/ trim the radiator fan shroud. If you have a body lift and a MM lift, you should not have to do this, but may.

as i stated in my previous post sorry for the negitive attitude, and i will say it again sorry. i hope you are happy with your lift and i am glad that your friend who has had a pro comp lift for years is happy with it.
it took me a full day to install my 4.5 inch lift, that was in a shop with a lift and one other persons help, and i did need a SYE and a CV drive shaft, i could drive it with out it but it vibrated real bad over 30 mph even with 6 degree shims. and i dont have a MM lift so that may help also. i got about 5 inches of lift with my set up and with the CV shaft and SYE it drives great. the drive shaft and SYE is a good idea any way because they are much stronger than the stock set up.
hope that helps

Thanks for all the input guys. I tried installing my lift this weekend..ran into a dead end when i couldnt get the bolts that hold the leaf spring to the shackle out!!! driving me crazy.. any suggestions??? I think the metal shim that goes inside the bushings of the leaf spring is gaulded to the bolt and thats why i cant get it out. Any suggestions on how i can get it out since the pro comp lift kit i got doesnt provide new bolts for the leaf springs. Or should i just cut them and buy new bolts(kinda on a budget and will do if its a last resort) thanks again for ur input

Those rear shackle bolts are a bear. The easiest way is to drive them out about 3" then cut them off with a hack or Sawzall. When you try to remove the bolts, you have to relieve some of the spring pressure. Use a jack to raise the body enough to get the tire off the ground, then put a jackstand under it. Then put the jack under the diff housing to control the the axle.
When you put the bolts back in, just install them in the opposite direction. New Grade 8 bolts aren't that pricey and don't forget to use locknuts.
Good luck with the install.
