Hi, Iam in need of some help.I am the proud owner of a 94 cherokee sport. When I bought my xj some one had put a rubber type corvering over the carpet and used 2'' screws to hold it in place, also used slicone around the seems. the carpet has been destroyed from being cut and getting wet I was wondering if any body can help me find a carpet kit and tell me how to go about filling the holes left from the screws. Thank You for all your help :)

sometimes yes if it's just a small hole the size of a screw no need to cut it out and weld a plate in there or anything. You could use a little 1 inch square sheetmetal patch put some jbweld in that hole and around it a bid and push that plate over it so it is nice and smothe.

I replaced the carpet in my Cherokee using indoor/outdoor carpet. I like cheap stuff. (Jdogg liked my flanalette sheet headliner) LOL. I Got a piece larger than I needed and cut as I went. I took out all trim pieces and flushed it in. The bump where the fuel filler is was my only hic up. If I get it greasey replacement is cheap again.I tinted the glass and now no one can see my hic up. I saved a ton of cash and was able to spend it towards my new lift kit. Again, just my opinion.

I did like it. I helped a budy in highschool put in a velvet headliner once hahaha it turned out good looking.

Well I reall got to looking at all the screws that are holding down the rubber matting and rotten carpet  I counted over 78 in the front and about 102 in front of the back seat :( looks like I have my work cut out for me and the use of a lot of Jb weild %P serveral of the screws almost went thru the break lines.pretty scarey if you ask me. Need less to say I removed those. :D

102? o man just use some cocking on that. jbweld cost to much for that many holes and it will do the job just fine.

You know how a sheet metal screw will split the metal as it's making the hole. You might actually be able to bend some of that back into place and minimize the amount of space you have to fill. Never had to attack a problem quite like yours, just my 2 cents.

Well, it may be easier to pull everything out and use herculiner on the floor and cover with carpet. The Herc will seal all the holes and it pretty easy to put on. Faster than using all that silicone sealant, and would deaden noise some too.

Thanks for the tip on the herculiner. I have located a small bussniess that can order a custom carpet kit for my xj for about $297.00 :D Now all I need is the money and the time. :hil:
