I've been looking for a Jeep for a while, and it turns out that my brother-in-law has one that he wants rid of. I'm just not exactly sure what it is.

It looks like a CJ5, but the serial number plate has Willys on it, and the serial # is 58977 (I'm pretty sure, but can't remember exactly). It has a JEEP insignia on the sides, but in capital letters. The gas tank is under the driver's seat, and the rear view mirror is mounted to the bottom of the window frame. It has a manual transmission and a twin-stick transfer case, and a V6 engine. Also, the leaf springs are hella-narrow, and mounted with C shaped shackles.

Anybody know what it is, and if any of the parts are worth-while?

He's asking $250 for it, and it has a plow with hydraulic height & angle adjustment. I figure I could probably unload the plow & walk away with the Jeep for free. I'm just curious if it's even worth messing with.

CJ-5 Spotter's Guide: http://earlycj5.com/tech/general/spottersGuide.shtml

Sounds like an Early CJ-5 that's had a V6 swapped in so it's pre 64 by the VIN (Willys). Should be a 57548 prefix. Twin stick too is indicative of it being a f-head originally.

If it runs and the frame is in good shape it's worth that much at least. With the plow I'd be hesitant. The frame horns are prone to crack, then putting a plow on it doesn't do it any favors!
