Ok i need to know something about tire sizes. What does a 285/75/16 translate into ie 32x10.5 16? how can i figure this out.

you know I've never figuard that out. All I can tell you is that those tires are for 16 rims. thats what the 16 on the end is.

Thanks Jdogg i know what all the sizes are and all that i just cant figure out how to calculate the sizes to make it into the second figure. hhmmm

i called a tire company and they said that the 285/75/16 transfers into a 32.8x11.2 16 just a little piece of FYI :D

that for some reason dosn't sound right :huh: cause I have 225/70/16 and I know the 70 isn't even that wide. Did they say how to calculate those or just tell you what you had? I'd be interested.

Thats what the guy told me he has a program to translate the sizes.

Yea Jdogg, those metric just dont seem to maks sense sometimes.

But you gotta remember, the 70 or 75 # is the % of tire width in relation to the sidewall height (in mm). For example, a tire that is a 205/75/15 has a sidewall that is 205 mm from the rim to the edge of the tire, and the width would be 153.75mm(75% of 205), but a tire that is a 225/70/15 is 225mm on the sidewall, but is 157.5 mm wide (70% of 225). Also, the height is different from a 225/70/15 (27.4") and a 225/70/16 (28.4"), although the sidewall size and tread width are the same.
