I was wondering myself, has to be some counting, since it even changes with posts you make before anybody else count have voted for it or something. But it does not only straight count points per post since members with same numbers of posts have different number of points...
If there was an announcement I have missed that too... :eyeye:

the more points ya get the more things you can change like your user name the way your name looks i guess font color and so on and you can even change someone elses user name .. and steal someone elses points
