Its been on the Rubicon a couple of times and we are goin back in that area to wheel the first weekend in July as far as the Claws little noisy on the street but they are great on the rocks aired down. I think there are some better tires out there now but I will wait till I wear these out

glad to hear. :USA:
one of the clubs I joined, another member has a 45 GPW, still the army green, has a 350V8, full size axles. thing is a tank, (almost, I had to winch him out, my 1st outing, with the RUBI) he had to drag me thru the mud pit though, he went ahead w/his 38's and made a nice rut for me to get stuck in. with the full size axles, the inside edge of the tire is even w/the outside edge of the GPW. he has a hek of a time getting it on a trailer.
I think MT runs the claws on their flamin' TJ. ever see that? well keep us updated with your progress. a true treasure you got there. :D

OMG LWB.. why did you have to do that..
ahhhhhhhhh flashbaaaaacks!!!
Getting flashbacks of when I sunk my Goat while "swimming" it across Mott lake at Bragg.. "someone" forgot to put the fording plugs in the trailer :nono: which eventually filled full of water dragging the cab down into 15' of water
Was cool tho.. gave the engineer company that was out there something to do :t

Actually.. the Hummer and variations of the Hummer along with the LMTV line of vehicles replaced the Jeep, the Gamma Goat, and the Deuce and a Half..oh and let's not forget the M1099 CUCV. Kinda weird now that I look back at my former career (army) and think that all them transitions happened while I was in.. never really thought about it before.

If I do remember correctly, the rear wheels did the turning. The Gamma Goat was sorta fun to operate, but maintenance was a nightmare. They or really slow too but full of torque when needed.

From the link above- THE M561 CARGO TRUCK IS A DUAL BODIED ARTICULATED SIX WHEELED VEHICLE. IT IS OF LIGHTWEIGHT ALUMINUM UNITIZIED CONSTRUCTION AND CAN SWIM USING IT'S WHEELS FOR PROPULSION. THE TWO OUTERMOST AXLES STEER USING COUPLED STEERING SHAFTS BETWEEN CAB AND CARRIER.
