Loud Trans Clunk at 2-3upshift

Hey all,
I have an '01 WJ 4.7 qtrac2. Love it but i is being a pain. two problems. When i am accelerating and let of the gas even lightly near the 2-3 shift 25mph or so, the thing clunks so hard i smash my teeth together. it has also developed a real nice engine knock (sounds like a lifter, not sure).
I tow my 80 cj 7 around behind it once in a while, i do not drive it like it is nascar when i am towing, but i keep up with traffic.

any idea what i might have done to it?

The clunk sounds like a worn-out/damaged torque converter. My fiancee's Isuzu Rodeo started doing that same thing. Turned out to be the torque converter. Except her's was the downshift/upshift between 1st and 2nd gears.

Yea, my SR-4 used to be behind the ol' 151 "Iron Duke" but now it's behind a small-block Chevy 307!!! It definitely gets babied until we get the funds for a new tranny...

I must have pissed off the Jeep Gods.
The trans shop has had my WJ for 9 days now, and at 6pm friday night the guy finally said (only after I showed up at his door) "Well I do not have a clue, we are calling in someone from ATRA"
So all this guy can tell me is the clutch friction coeffcient is measuring up way out of whack. GRRR
Then I let a friend borrow my CJ7 and it comes back pouring gas out of the carb. So I am now driving (heaven help me if i wreck it) my best friends wifes '01 Olds Aurora 4.0
I almost did wreck it yesterday when the wipers turned on all by themselves!!
