But now let's vote on which weekend. Since this is all about you guys and when is better for you, I decided to take another poll to get the date in stone.
The last weekend of July is not on here b/c I will not be here then. And we can't have a meet and greet without me :*
I think that we should try to avoid the 4th of July weekend due to the obvious traffic problems of that weekend. If anyone takes a long vacation around this time the next weekend could still fall in to their vacation time.

This one is going to be in Wellsville, OH, aka Yellowcreek. I know a lot of you in the midwest and west coast will not be able to attend, and I apologize for that. But this year, it's going to be here, in Ohio.
Now if someone else wants to plan one somewhere else, that's fine by me too.

the later the better for me. I'm broke and all I need is to save up for bigger tires and I'm good to go.

O.K., I voted for the 4th but I'm an idiot sometimes. After reading bull's post, I agree that it should be after the 4th.
Anyway, I'll be driving out from the L.A. California area. Jdogg, I may swing through CO, we'll have to keep in touch on that caravan thing. Unlike my earlier statements though, I will not be driving my jeep. I'll trailer it out to a comfortable distance then drive in. I would hate to hurt my ride on the way out there and not be able to attend.
5.0 ltr gpw, are you going to make this trip? I think you're up in Northern California right? Maybe we can all meet at Jdogg's house, Fu%k with his neighbors for awhile, then head out to Ohio.

You guys meet in CO, then drive out here. I have plenty of room for you guys to crash, then we get a fresh start in the morning for the 8 or so hour drive. Sound good?

:hil: :rock :rock :rock :rock hahaha that works for me. you know the funny thing is I hardley ever see them anymore. I pulled in one day and they were grilling in the garage again and saw me I gave them a big wave and they closed the door hahaha maybe they died for the fumes.

I could only hope then I could get new neighbors woooooooooo rock on.
If anyone was thinking of attending from the lower east coast and wants to caravan once we get a date set, thenI would be interested in that, strength in numbers. Although I do think it would still be a good idea to avoid the 4th weekend with all the drunks that will invariably be out. (it is one of the holidays with the most fatalities out of the year) And I think it would be wise to try to avoid that, esp with some of us that will probably be doing the driving at night ( I know I will be, keep the floor boards a bit cooler on the feet).
I just checked and wellsville is 550 miles from me, not a bad stretch. Only about 10 hrs drive. As for anyone wanting to caravan from NC up.. your tour guide will inform you now that we will be passing by beautiful MT Airy NC (as mentioned repeatedly on the Andy Griffith Show)

No problem on the drive I'm just going to have to save up for more gas money than I thought I was going to need. Ok new plan hotel out of the questing sleeping on the side of the road now. that should save me 60 bucks or so. That and I'm not going to stop and eat. I'm going to take food with me.

J, I have a 3 bdr room house where 2 bedrooms are empty. Who ever is driving here from the west is more than welcome to crash here. Hell, a good group of people, a few steaks on the grill, a cooler of beer, we have a little party. Just make sure you bring women. haha I think I am only about 1000 miles from denver if I remember correctly.

I live in a small town called Secor, IL. it is 20 miles north of Bloomington, IL. I80 is one hour north of me, I55 and I74 is 1/2 hour from me. And I39 is 5 miles from my house. Everyone is welcome, just bring steaks and beer. haha I have plenty of room in the house, and room for many tents if you have them. TJ, come on out. I might have a pool here too. Ok, it might only be a kiddie pool, but a pool none the less. haha
J- denver to here in a day? Sure, I did that once. Though I did have another driver to help out. I did Amarillo to here in one day and that was about 1100 miles. I had my jeep with a dog in the back who did not like going to the bathroom on a leash. So it was "hell or high water" getting back here. That is not a drive I would recommend every day. I was dragging butt for a few days.

when did you leave in the morning and when did you pull into your place.
Does this sound about right.
From Evans, CO US
To Secor, IL US
Total Distance: 945.41 miles Total Estimated Time: 15 hours, 38 minutes
15 hours doesn't sound that bad.

It could be. I left here about 2 am with a friend driving and we were in Denver the next day about 4. But the first few hundred miles were driving about 55 due tot he fact that I had just bought a Dakota that had 8 miles on it. So i had to do the break-in miles.

J- I know what you mean. That trip i took was just on the ride back here to visit family when I was living in Vegas. The trip back down was just as much fun. That was the blizard or 98 that hit the midwest new years day. The first day I made it from here to Tulsa, most of the way it was 40 top speed due to the road conditions. The second day was Tulsa to Vegas. Start out at 7 am, stop about 11 or 12 midnight. I was broke and just out of college, so I wanted to limit my stays in hotels. That is nota trip I would recomend to anyone if at all possible. Lots of coffee and late night stops along the interstate to pee. haha not to mention almost falling asleep driving through the mountains of AZ. Good thing I did not hace cruise control.haha

I learned my lesson about road trips then. A 30 dollar room at a roachcoach is better than driving that tired. The next time I take a trip like that it will be done in 3 or 4 days. I also don't plan on taking any more trips like that by myself. I learned the words to "king of the road" that trip, and could have sworn that my dog could carry on a conversation.haha I also learned that when you are comming up to a big city, or town, turn off the cd's and turn on the radio. Out in the desert you are hard pressed to find any good radio stations. I think I heard "king of the road" about 20 times that trip.haha Save the cd's for when there is nothing else to listen to.

I have a tone of music burned on cd's I don't think I could listen to them all if I wanted to if I drove from alaska to the tip of FL. but ya I know what you mean. Try doing that with just a tape deck blaaaaaaaaaaa all the suck.
a trail ride from AK to FL... now THAT sounds like a fun ride. A little expensive on the gas but a cool ride. Maybe we can start planning that for the meet and greet 2004. LOL

I'm going to have to go with No on that one now a trip for CO and up to Alaska would rock. been thinking about doing that in the future. cruze out to CA. load the jeep on a boat to alaska and drive back home. come on lottery wooooooooooo winning numbers.
Now there is a cruise line that doesn that I think it might be norweigan cruise lines. Does anyone know the cost to ship a car up north like that? That would be a cool vacation.

I have no information about Norwegian cruise lines but here is some information about the Alaska state Ferry system.
This should probable go in it's own topic but here it is anyway.
