alingment?
Ok so how many people have gotten an alignment done after they have lifted there jeep.
I'm planing on taking mine in as soon as I get it done cause I don't want any problems to pop up. How much does and alignment job cost.

I got mine aligned after the lift and tires were on. It depends on where you take it how much it'll cost. I think mine was like $35 or something like that. My jeep definitely needed it done bad. You could tell when you were driving how bad it was out of alignment.

I did some of the basic measuring and everything looks to be close but I hate dealing with that. I was talking to a guy at work and he told me of a good guy to go to.

After I was done with the lift and I put the new tires on, I had an alignment done but it drove straight the only thing I noticed was the steering wheel was off about 1/8 of a turn. The only thing the shop ended up adjusting was to get the steering wheel to be straight again? But the only steering component that I changed was the drop pitman arm.

I've only seen a few drop pitman arms and they seem pricy. I heard you could use a YJ's they are 1 3/4ths longer than the XJ.

Getting a alignment after lifting is a good idea. I think the guy that did mine charged me $30 regular cost was like $49.99. We do alot of work for his shop so he cut me a deal. If your on a budget you could probably just "string it" for now. We used to do this all the time on the race car. What you do it get a long piece of string. Hold it on the side of the rear tire so the string is touching 2 parts of the tire about hub high.. Run the string to the front tire (keeping it still in contact with the rear) and adjust it until the string touches the fore and aft part of the tire. Ok, after re-reading that I'm confused so I'm sure you probably won't get it. :D Just go get it aligned by a professional.

Yeah if you do anything to the suspension of a vehicle like installing a lift or lowering kit, (godforbid you make one of those street jeeps that was shown) then it would behoove you to have the alignment checked out. If its one bit off those 180 dollar tires will wear down a whole lot faster. My dad was telling me about a car he had that hadd too much toe in and he said he could tell where he had been by following the tire marks on the pavement. He was also going through a set of tires in 2 weeks, the problem might not be quite that noticable, but it will increase the tire wear out rate, and we all know that the more money you have to spend replacing stuff over and over again means less money for toys.

did you know 4WDH sales a lowering kit for jeeps I think it's just for the Grands but I could be wrong. I just saw it last night couldn't belive my eyes.

STEP AWAY FROM THE CRACK ROCK!!! I showed my buddy ( another avid wheeler (not in a Jeep though)) the street jeeps page and he almost puked. Why on earth would you want to take a 4wd and make it into a lowrider... compensate for the bad gas mileage by shortening the amount of vehicle actually coming into contact with the air? I think some people ate too many paint chips while living by the powerlines.
