I know they made some of these jeeps between 1952 and 1957 can anyone help me out ? I have a trooper comming over to look for a Vin# so I can put it on the road . Thank for any help

All of the M38A1s should have the battery box. It was vestigal on CJs through about 1965, but was tack-welded closed on CJs.
Not sure if the A1s have the s/n at the same place as the CJs... probably do.
Check on the passenger frame rail top, straight down from the battery box. Stamped into the frame. It will be hard to see, maybe covered by paint/crud, etc.
Two other places:
At/near the top of the hump on the frame rail above the rear axle, pass side.
Finally, there may be one stamped into the frame around the front frame horns.
Got pics?
Stock or modded? What are your plans??
g503 (The "G") is a great place if you're doing a full military resto. Some folks there don't take kindly to talk of mods, so if you're doing mods earlycj5.com will be your best resouce.
