I found a 73 cj 5.

It has 99000 on the odometer and I believe that looks about right.

6 cylinder, 3 speed, body seems in decent enough shape for a Virginia Jeep over 30 years old.

It has an Offenhauser intake, Holley four barrell and a home made exhaust header. There is a valve tapping but not bad at all.

Are they solid lifter motors?

Where are the bad spots on the frame for rust.

What are some things, (typical problems) that I should look at before I buy it.

Oh yeah
He is asking $1200 for the Jeep. Seems to be the going price around here.

I also found a wrecked 75' CJ5 with a 304 for $300 dollars.
I might buy it for the engine and assorted parts.

Thanks

Chad

Sounds fair enough, both of them.

Check the frame around the spring/shackle hangers, around the steering box mount, and at the frame horns in the front, for cracks. Check the rear frame ends/crossmember for rust through.

I'd lose the 4 bbl, sell it and replace it with an MC 2100, install GM HEI ignition.
