Well once I get my Wrangler up and running I can start on my restoration projects. I have a 1984 CJ-8 Scrambler that I am tearing down right now to prepare for rebuild. That is going to be fun. I won't do much to it as far as modifications but I am putting a 2" suspension lift on it. I am also putting headers and high flow cat back on it. It needs a lot of work. Body tub, two fenders, new grill, engine rebuild, etc. etc. . . . Once it is done, probably at least a year from now, I will post a picture on here of it.
The CJ-5 is a whole nother discussion. That is an even bigger project.

:USA: Sometime between now and spring I plan to install a lift. I haven't decided on which one yet. Still researching. Need 4" because I want to put on 33X13.50. I know, the width is what kills ya.

well my project started in august....the week i moved here to san antonio to start school at trinity univeristy......needless to say, i didnt get much done. I pulled the iron duke out of my 83' Cj-7, i am swapping in a 4.3L V6....in this time i went ahead and pulled my old suspension and installed a warn 3-inch suspension lift..... after the engine is finally in, its off to get hurculined....and the body work done. I am looking for either full soft doors, ar a decent set of hard doors.....OK and a tech ? i am trying to find a cheap flywheel (college student, remember)....supposedly on the gm performance parts website a 153 tooth flywheel was offered on small blocks from 1955-1985....does anybody know what vehicle was offered with this flywheel? It was prolly a 350 bc the parts from a 4.3 and a 350 are very interchangable, bc a 4.3 is the exact same thing less 2 cylinders.......i need to know what vehicle this came out on so i can give the junk yards exactly what i am looking for, not just a guess. i appreciate any input................thegoat

I had the same problem when I pulled out the Iron Duke from my '81 CJ 5. I had to find a 153 tooth flywheel. I don't know what vehicles offered this size flywheel. I called Advanced Adapters. He told me that the flywheel measures 12 3/4". That's what he told me to tell the juck yards. He said that they will not count teeth but would take time to measure. Good luck in your search as they are out there. You will also have to change the starter cone to work with the smaller flywheel.

actually what we did was we took the 168 tooth flywheel and had it machined down to the the size of the 153 tooh..we had the 153 toothe ring gear shrunk on and the holes drilled out like the one of the original jeep flywheel so that we could use all jeep parts from the flywheel back....everything turned out ok, we used the original iron duke starter and had no problems with it.
