My grandpa recently died and we found out that he had his old 1950 Willy's Station Wagon in storage for the past 20 years. It was in running condition when my grandpa put it in, but I'm not sure what kind of shape it's in now. Does anyone have an estimate of the value of a low to fair condition 1950 Willys Wagon? I'm trying to decide whether to sell it (which I really don't want to do) or keep it and rebuild it to working condition. The only problem is I'm a poor student, so do you think keeping this around despite the age and possible bad condition would be worth the hassle? I'd really rather keep it seeing as it was my grandpa's.

Thanks for any info you guys can get me.

Hold on to it. You won't be in college forever, I hope. Later on you'll have some disposable income and a cool project. Your grandfather held onto it, you should honor him with the same action.

Had a '50 pick up that sat for 12 years. Filed points, condenser, and rotor, primed the cylinders and carb, and pulled it about 1/2 mile in gear. Started up and drove it home. Resto comes later.

When I was a kid, my uncle had several Jeeps. He had a 3-point hitch that he moved from Jeep to Jeep. I now have that set up. I also have a 58 CJ5 that originally had a 3-point hitch which was lost in a fire. It came from the factory with a rear PTO just like a tractor. We used my uncle's Jeeps just like tractors. Now, at 58 years old, I'm working to put that piece of my past back together. It takes lots of time and some money, but it is fun. It keeps me off the golf course and out of the boat. In other words, I'm at home and happy. (when I'm not working) I have a neighbor who has a flat-fender that was purchased brand new in 1947, the year I was born. The father of the guy who owns the farm where the Jeep is bought the jeep. It has not left the farm since the early '60's. Someday, I will own that thing too.

I have a 51 & a partial 56, both of these have been stored for many years when I got them and they will be stored for a few more yet as I have other projects to finish first - but long term they WILL be worth it.
and if time is on your side but funds are tight just scour for the bits you need over time......ads to the fun.....
anyhow I say keep it.

I have a 54 Willys truck I got from a guy that just wanted it out of his barn.
It was his fathers and it was setting in there for ten years. His father died and he didn't want it so he gave it to me. But there wasn't a engine in it and needs some work. It's been setting for three years at my house. I have four other Jeeps I've been putting money in to, so the trucks on hold for now.

keep it, I would kill for one *lol* over here those are rarer than gold...
even if it needs some work, it would be a great project and a piece of history, Jeeps and yours...
