If so what year and how do you like it what mods have you done with it.
My woman has a XJ right now and is wanting a GC. I've heard that 98 are cool cause they had the big V8 in it but yet some people say thay had problems with them. I've heard alot of people saying they don't like the new body style. if so why. Is it a issue with harder to put lifts on?

Hey, I'm here!
I'm a previous XJ owner ('87). I own 2 JGCs now, '95 & '99 and really like them both. I sold my XJ to a co-worker (sometimes not such a good thing) and he really loves it (with over 160k miles!).
The 4.0L '99 WJ is my wife's And she loves it as-is. She's been pretty adamant about keeping it as is because of the smoother ride and it being easier to get in and out of. It's Platinum Silver Metallic and is equipped with Jeep's Up Country Suspension Package. It also has all Limited options. It's very nice, but it's hers and that's OK by me.
The 5.2L '95 ZJ is my baby. I've only done some minor mods (see Sig) so far and had all the work performed by a local 4WD company. I haven't had any real problems with either of the Grand Cherokees EXCEPT I had to repace the tranny on the '95 last year. It was holding second gear too long and I had to kind of force it to shift by accelerating or decelerating. That ended up costing me around $2000 once all said and done. I really don't get off road much anymore (it costs too much when things break!). My next plans for the ZJ is "leveling her out". Typically they sit about 1/2" lower in the front. I bought some factory coil spring isolators for the front, they are 1/2" tall. I've done some checking and it appears to be an acceptable solution to gaining that extra 1/2" I need to get her leveled out. That's about it "for now", but you know how that goes...

Ya I think I got lucky with this girl she was into jeeps or at least wanted one when we meet. I got mine about 3 months after dating and then she got hers about 8 months after me. The tj she wants is one of her old high school buddies. He moved to AZ and wants something with A/C??? I said take off the top.

I purchased a 98 Grand Cherokee last year. I got it with many mods. I Love it. The only problem I might have is the transmission. It seems to shift a little rough. When I installed a Jacobs ignition and gapped my plugs wider the transmission seemed to shift smoother. I will get it checked out soon. I have a 3.5 lift, 32 inch BFG's, Arb Bull Bar, custom rear bumper with tow hitch, K&N air filter and much more. I've done minor 4 wheeling with it. I will be towing my CJ5 soon. I can let you know how that goes. I have the 5.2L V8. I have heard the tow great. I will keep her for a while.

Even though I don't have one, I have a couple friends that tow with ZJs. My neighbor has a '96 (I think) Laredo W/the 4.0L and flat tows his CJ5 with no problems. Have a couple other friends in my 4wd club who tow TJs on 16' to 18' open car trailers W/5.2 ZJs, again, no problem keeping up with the rest of us. Then I have another, who tows everything including FS pickups  on a tow dolly W/a '93 4.0 ZJ, but he is a little nuts & I'll leave him out of this. Regarding the 5.9 ZJ, another friend (sure, you have more than 1 friend, LWB) has 1, and had some expensive internal engine problems with his- I've heard of that a few other times, also. He upgraded his engine when he rebuilt it , but hasn't towed with it yet.

95 Grand Cherokee Orvis. Factory installed mods are all it really has right now. They are 2" up country suspension lift, off road driving lights, full size spare tire on mag wheel, skid plates, full-time 4x4, and various nets inside to hold gear.
Future mods include a safari rack, k&n style col air intake, more agressive tires, and an exterior monut for the spare.

My family loves jeeps, dad has a jeep, I got a jeep, my uncle has a jeep, my aunt has a jeep, and one of my brothers has a jeep. We all have XJ's ecept my uncle, who has a 2002 GC (hes a lawyer...he can afford all sors of toys) and he tows with it...he even uses it on his 'vinyard' I call it a small farm but what ever. When his tractor gets stuck he ties it to his jeep and pulls it out. And he has halled arround parts for the tractor, and he hasnt had any complaints, he likes the features it has..thats his biggest thing about it, other than the V8 power. His favorite feature is the fuel gage, which tells him exactly how many more Km he can go on how much gas hes got. He can also tell inside and out tempratures, and locking diffs.. As I said, he can afford toys..but I personaly dont like it that much, the coulor sucks (brownish stuff) its got more comfortable seats than mine, but its worse on gas (i got the 4L engine, not HO) and the Body style is too....not jeep....I love the look of the TJ and the XJ...other than that, any thing else id pass on (well, id take a CJ, or a YJ, but it would have to be better than my XJ, which is really nice)
