I presently have a wussy tape deck in my jeep...with only door speakers..that dont work with crap in it. It doesnt have anything else :x ..My question is, where could a put an amp without building a box or taking away from the normal storage space of the jeep (Because I sure need it) is there anywhere I could put some subs in? Im presently looking at CD players, any hints to something thats cheap yet works? and any resonable amps for a low price? thanks for your help...my dad is a jeep guy..but once I asked him how could I put a sound system in my jeep he just said "Its good now, so why change it?"..yeah I dont get much help from him..

you have an XJ right. IF so I'm not sure if all the XJ.s are like this but Under the back seat is a tone of room. I keep my two straps and tools back there When I get around to upgrading my system and get a amp Thats were I'm going to put that. and for the speakers on my 2001 aren't that bad right now. I'll get a sub small sub like a 10 at the most. I like quality but don't need a huge system in it.

I dont know how much room is under your dash but when I had a stereo in my flatty i used JB weld or something like that and put the amp rite on top of the cd player I used a couple zip ties for safety didnt want it shaking loose. This worked fine for me. Had a box with a couple 10" subs under the back seat and a couple 6X9's zip tied to the floor in front of them IT ROCKED. I have had a lot of trouble trying to figure out where to put speekers at up front. Im thinking the bar across the top with speekers and maybe a cb would be good but maybe cluttered a bit. Any response to the bar from those of you that have em would be appreciated.

yeah there isnt really much room under the dash, what space is left is going to be filled with a graphix equalizer (I have heard the difference these things can make in my brothers 323, which has a crapy sound system...its amazing) but I still dont know about where im going to put the CB. I do like the idea of puting the amp under the rear seat, I looked underthere, and there is quite alot of room. For the sub, I was thinking about remaking the passanger pannel in the back, that little pocket right by the hatch up against the wheel well. I looked at the other side, and it has a speaker behind the spare tire.. so my thoughts are put subs back there, and then speakers in the front doors, under the dash, and in the hatch...all that combined should make an awsome system. But what I dont know is, If I put a CD player in, is there any way I can just plug in a tape player, or MD player? just like a head phone jack plug...do any CD players come with that? I know tape decks do...Its not like I would use tapes or anything alot...seeing that all my music is on CD, but my buddy has an MD player, and all of his music is on the mini discs...so right now with the tape player in it isnt much of a problem playing his music...thanks for your help... (by the way, I plan on making the new rear pannels out of fiberglass...sounds hard...but the funny thing is I have done it before, and I know all the tricks to make it easy)

Norco is a mountian bike company, they make their bikes here in BC, so living in BC i get cheap bikes. They make good canadian mountian bikes. I only use their north shore series bikes. the one I have is a 2002 Team shore (with all the parts that i wanted, the whole bike togeather cost 6000$, but im not done, I gota rebuild it some more, so that will cost me anouther 4 grand about) you can check out their site http://www.norco.com/ ---------Oh yeah, thanks jdogg4, but no need, I build things.... I will make my own box. Im presently starting fiberglass rear pannels that will fit my subs, replacing the stock plasic rear pannels in the storage area behind the back seat.

I recommend panasonic head units, i got mine for $180 and it's just as good as lower end Alpine. It even has a fake security label with a blinking red light behind the faceplate. So what kind of speakers are you putting in? If you get components then i found it easiest to stuff the kickers on top of the panels by your feet under the dash, they have stayed fine for me, and then i mounted my tweeters on the frame between the windshield and side windows. I also put both amps under the rear seat, you don't even need to secure them. as for the box i just figure i can take it out if i need the storage space, the JL bandpass takes up just about the whole damn back section. oh yea, as for the amp i would recommend rockford if you have some money. if not then Directed makes really nice amps for the money. a 250d pushed harder than a 600w kenwood i had. and if you have extra cash i highly recommend the rockford fosgate fanatic-x component speakers. i lucked out and got mine for $180 :D

Im not really sure what speakers im geting yet, the plan is to shop arround, and find the cheapest that sounds good. Right now I got other things i gota do on my jeep. The rear leaf spings need replacing, the rear oil seal is going to be replaced, the headlights dont work, and im chainging over the instrment cluster from a limited to my lower class jeep. so far I have replaced the track bar, fixed the rear brakes, changed the shocks and a few other things

well that sounds good let us know how it goes with pics. I'm going to do my own sub box aswell. I want it to fit in that panel spot aswell. I don't want to much of my cargo room to be waisted by a speaker box. I tend to take alot of junk with me. I'm going to have to cut back on some of that stuff once the dog gets bigger. That or I might have to use that for an angle with the woman to get a roof rack for the jeep.

Yeah I too cary alot of stuff with me, so I dont want to take away with the space. I been spending time in the junk yard (garry's, they have about 200 cars in the lot...170 are jeeps) and I been looking closely at all of the parts back there...I will probaly use the old passenger side pannel as a mold or a template. The drivers side I need to look arround some more, to see what structers are in there, and how I would get arround the mounts for the spare tire and gas tank. The passenger side, i could just use the old pannel, by cutting out the storage area and filling that section in with a peace of fiberglass, from there you need to find paint that will match the inteiror (I found out where I could get some interior paint, so I can make it look stock) and I was talking to this guy at garry's, and he already had done on the passenger side what I plan to do (though, he didnt put in a sub, he just put in an ordanary speaker) and he showed me how he did it, how he painted, how he textured it, and how he made it able to support the speaker. I promose Ill keep you posted with the work, but right now I got a few other things I gota do, I gota re-wire the head lights (I got them working, but the wiring is shot) put in a new gage cluster (I got the basic one, so I took one out of a cherokee limited) replace the rear oil seal, add a leaf to the worn rear leaf springs (im cheap, so I just add a leaf) and thats all the 'big' stuff I gota do before I start the sound system. Till then, Ill use the old tape deck and 4 speakers.
