I've got a 1975-CJ5 and can find zero info on replacing my seats, everything stops at 1976. The Rack the current seats sit on is fine (with a little spray paint). But what seats can I use? Do I trash the factory frame work and replace with backets. If so what backets do I use?
Help!

Most seats will fit your brackets with a little bit of fab work. Sometimes some holes line up and others won't. What I've done in those circumstances is to take some 1/8" flat steel, maybe 2" wide. Drill 2 holes in it. One hole gets bolted to the hole in the seat, the other hole is drilled to line up with the hole in the bracket/stock seat mount.
I've done this with short pieces of steel; I've also used long pieces... two long ones, making an "adapter", each drilled to match the seat and match the bracket.
Lots of guys think that there are no parts out there for the "intermediates" (72-75 CJ5s). They're out there... you have to know where to look, and be willing and able to make some things fit.
Lots more info and tech for rigs like yours in the Intermediates forum at
