  • discc vs drums

Are drums on four wheels just as safe as disc on the front and drum on the back.Since I will be switching to all drums, will I see any difference in stopping. Also can I use a proportioning valve with drums for a 72 cj5 dana 44 rear and a dana 30 front. 3:73 gears

I had no problem with stopping my 33's with drums on all 4 wheel either. At least until I went through some deep water. Then you learn the benifits of disk brakes.

Dome people have drilled their drums with good results. Chek out www.EarlyCJ5.com site for info.

You mean to tell me you have discs on the front now and you are switching it to drums?!?!? Thats called regression. What is you reason of thinking here? Discs stop alot better and are easier to work on.

my cj7 stops way better than my cj5 and i think both are manual brakes......

I wouldnt say that drums stop just fine unless you have power brakes......i use downshifting to slow my 5 down......
