  • No Spark

Having a problem with my 82 CJ8, original 258. I cannot get spark. I did JeepWhore's suggestion and do have voltage entering and exiting the coil. New coil ($20) added today. There is spark at the coil, but not beyond it. Seems to be no power from the distributor out. Could vaccum advance module prevent spark?? Please help, and
    Thanks, Z

Is there just one spark comming out the coil or a number of them when you crank the engine. If only one when key is turned off then you have a problem with the ICM on the drivers fender. If you are getting multiple sparks then you could have a bad roter that is shorting the spark to the distributor shaft killing the spark to the plugs or a bad carbon traced cap.

Vacuum advance should not effect the spark.

Were in NE Ohio you live?

I'm in Liberty township, just north of Youngstown. I live on Loganway at the intersection where Warner Road dead ends into Logan. 1/4 mile north of 304 (Churchill)
