  • d44 axle swap

I have d44 axles out of a 1974 scout. They are now under a 78 cj7. With the brake calipers installed a 15" rim will not fit. Does anyone know if the scout came with 16" rims? Or did I install something wrong? I tried switching the calipers from one side to the other, but had the same clearance issues. The rotors are 11" diameter. Hole pattern is 5 on 5 1/2.

you may want to recheck everything. I have 1976 scout axles on my CJ and I have no brake problems. The 1978 and back brakes should be the same as the scout parts "calipers, rotors, pads, clips ect."

    good luck

Boji, check the backspacing sticky that FUBAR made in Just Jeep. And welcome to the board.

          backspacing

The backspacing on my rims is 4". I just tried installing a 1.5" spacer, but still do not have quite enough clearance. The caliper still contacts the rim.
