  • rear disc conversion

i did a disc conversion in the rear of my 79 cj5. i was wondering if anyone has done this type of conversion, cj5 or cj7. don't know if i can use my stock m/c or do i need to upgrade. note: i have manual breaks. thanks for any help in this, as i'm stuck on the part.

    one more thing

the reason i ask is, my new dynatrac 44 came with disc and e break, i've already ran all my break lines (stainless) up to where the master cylinder will go. and to my perportioning valve, just wondring if i can use my stock m/c and perportioning valve for that mater. thanks again, sorry for the newbie question. just making sure i do it right.

      Changing the dynamics...

1Tuff, I'm pretty sure since you've removed the rear drums that you'll need a different proportioning valve. Also, since you're going ground up this would be an excellent time to consider power assist for your brakes. The following thread has a lot of discussion about the different options. Also, do some Googling or searching here for the 'proper' proportioning valve. You want to have that stuff 'right'.

thanks blackwater, awsome thread, i did do a search before i posted never saw that one. guess i gave up after an hour.lol. your right i think i might switch to power breaks. gotta think about it, i'll have to reorder the break lines to the master cylinder. oh well small prise to pay.
