  • traction bar\clearance issues

ok, ive spent an hour or so under the jeep and cant figure this one out, so ive come to you.

first off, how short can u make a wrap bar and it still perform amazingly?

heres my problem. ive got some 1.5x.250 dom tubing i was going to use to make a crossmember for a mounting point for my wrap bar im building. but, to keep it up above or level with the frame and it not running into the driveshaft it has to be directly under the yoke at the xfer case, or so far back that the wrap bar would only be around 20-24 inches long.

assuming i put it under the yoke, and jungle gym my exaust around evertyhing, how much clearance do i need between the yoke and the crossmember?

    thanks-one headache inspired jeeper

      Building something like this?

I am going to mount mine directly to the trany cross member by bolting a front shackle hanger to the member upside down. (will have to reinforce most likely) Then I will use a couple of pieces of plate steel to make the "shackle." this should raise it high enough to keep it out of the way while making certain it is long enough to do the job. (will have to check clerances for under the tub of course)

      Mr. Nutter's writeup is here:
