  • RENEGADE package???

    Hi,
Does anyone know what the RENEGADE package added to an 81 CJ7 besides the decals?

    Thanks.

Steering wheel, and wagon wheels, it was a trim package. I think they also had a tack and clock in the dash by that year. But don't quote me on that as I haven't got my books on me.

Padded dash, and either decals or poorly painted "renegade" on the hood.

        Renegade

I don't have a tack or clock but I do have the padded dash. My steering wheel doesn't look like anything special. What was the difference in the wheels? Just curious.

There was a Levi package too. Different seat material.
I got no clock neither- aftermarket tach though, and three temperature gauges- none of which work.
Decals was the thing- all other components, I believe, could be ordered w/o the renegade sticker- like motor choice, and the heavy duty suspension.

In 79 they had a better looking steering wheel. The stock one is a really cheesey looking wheel. Looks like an old truck.

If I remember right they got white American Racing wheels on it and the padded dash. And I think the tilt steering was part of the Renegade. At least mine got it and it was a Renegade due to the DC records... on the other hand, mine got all the goodies from the factory, it even had AC, all gauges and the clock, tilt steering, power steering, fog lights, metallic paint... so it's hard to say what was part of the Renegade package and what just options

Here's some pics of my dad's '81 CJ-7, all stock except tires and engine. Some Renegade items include: decals, padded dash pad and black plastic piece that surrounds gauges. We received no clock or tach. The wheels were the chrome wagon wheels.

                  Renegade

I'm not sure but some of the Renegade Packages DID NOT have the tailgate in the back of the body..the spare was mounted to the body without a swing away mount........

Those would be the CJ-5's. Correct me if I'm wrong, but all -7's had the swing-away tire carrier.

anybody know where to buy replacement Renegade decals? I love how they look. When I had my 85 Renegade I was going to repaint and re-decal it, at the time all I could find was cheesy aftermarket decals that didn't look right at all. I've noticed all different styles of stripes with the Renegade decal package, some I like better than others. I probably would go with whatever year I thought looked the best, rather than what year it came with. Just so you know. Isn't that what Jeeps are all about? Making them your own personalized version of what you want? A lot different from the classic car forums I frequent, a lot of guys bite your head off if you want to make something non-original. If I do go with a Renegade theme I'll probably go either white with blue decals or black with blue decals. always liked those schemes.
