  • Ford 300 Inline 6 Cyl Engine

I have a chance to purchase a FORD 300 INLINE 6 CYL ENGINE that's fuel injected for my 82 CJ7. I have the 258 with a T5 tranny. Can I make the swap with little trouble?

A different motor swap is never easy.
But if you have enough equipment and time anything can be done.
I have never heard of this swap.

If I remember correctly the transmission will not bolt up directly.

I'd try contacting Advance Adapters. I didn't see anything specific for that, but I ~think~ a 302 kit will work.

The Ford engine won't net you much gain over the 258 tho. Yes, 42 more cubes helps as will the EFI, but for the hassel, add a Howell EFI to your existing engine.

The 300 is a torque monster, more than the 4.0 in my opinion. But probably not nearly enough difference to make the swap worth it. Also, I would measure the 300- I believe that it is considerably longer than the 4.0, and that it will not work in a Jeep.
