  • Mounting Hard Doors

OK, finally broke down and put the hard top on the CJ. Now the doors need to be adjusted. What have y'all done? I'm thinking that most of the adjustment is on the door side of the hinges, but is there any adjustment on the fender side? It doesn't look like it because the top hinge is part of the windshield hinge assembly.

If you really need it you could do some adjusting there. Not much though.

The lower tub hinge has some play, but your right on the doors themselves having the most adjust ment. I had to remove the hinge from the door, and clean behind them. There was so much gunk between the door skin and hinge I couldn't adjust at all. Hardest thing is getting the upper and lower aligned, for easy removal. The stainless window hinges are a bit looser, making removing/installing the doors easier.

Both the upper and lower door hinges have some adjustment to the mounting bolts. I mounted mine and got a good gap between the door edge and fender edge and then made the rest of the adjustment off the striker.
