  • info on seat

Im looking for info on the front bench (60/40) seat of my 79 cj7. I looked everywhere on the net and only found one with the bench front seat. If this is original im going to have it recovered if not ill look for new seats.

It's my understanding that the 60/40 bench seat is indeed an original option. It is pretty rare to find one hence your difficulty in locating information on it. Recover it and keep it...and if you don't want to, let me know I will take if off your hands.

Yep, some came with the split bench. Don't know anything more than that though.

Ditto, they were original equiptment. I'd get it recovered and keep it since you don't see them very often. I like seeing rare options on old Jeeps like the seat that you have, it really sets them apart from the crowd.

I wanted to make sure the seats were original. I like the style so i will get them recovered. Here are some pics and a cheesey design of how i want them done. The drivers side is the bigger seat and is on sliders. The passenger side is smaller and lifts up and forward like a normal Jeep seat.

I see them most often with the postal jeeps, but the driver's side is of course on the right in that case.

The one I saw was in a quadratrac, no shift levers in the tranny hump.
