  • 76 cj5 79 cj5 differences

Can anyone tell me what differences there are between the 76 and 79 cj5, like frame/ body and drivetrain. I have a 76 and just bought a 79 that I intend on using the frame from, are my parts interchangeable? I did notice that my 76 frame has a C channel in the backend and the 79 has a full box frame.

    Thanks alot

Dimension wise the frames are exactly the same, they just had C channel earlier. The bodies should measure up exactly the same as each other.
Drive train wise, it depends on what engine and transmission you have. If they are the same, everything should be interchangable. If you have different engines and transmissions things won't match up like drive shafts ect.
