About a year ago you guys told me how to bi-pass the stepper motor on a Carter BBD. Your advice was spot on. My 'ole 258 has been running like a Singer Sewing Machine ever since. Now, my brother has the same problem and I can't remember exactly how I did it. I remember removing the motor, turning the valves inside the carb, but I don't remember...all the way in or all the way out?

Sorry Eddie, not an answer to your question, but I have the same question for my '85. My stepper motor fell apart - the socket for the plug from the computer fell out of the housing and all the tiny wires soldered to the backside of the socket broke off. I have done my research for a replacement and came up with nothing. The Jeep dealership says it's obsolete. A new reman carb would be a choice, but expensive. So I'm glad it's possible to delete the stupid thing and am looking for instructions also.
