  • need some measurements

I have a 78 cj5 and i'm tryin to put seats in it. I just rebuilt the motor, put a lift on, welded the holes in the floorboard, welded the holes in the frame, fixed leaky trans and diffs, all I need now is some seats. The problem is, I don't have factory seats and not sure if the steering column is original. I have a set of factory seat brackets which came attached to non-factory seats. When I put the seats in, there is only 2" clearance between the bottom of the wheel and the top of the seat bottom. I have cut the brackets and lowered the seat, but it seams like the steering wheel is too far away from the dash panel. Could anybody give me some measurements from an original cj5 that I could go by?

I dont have the measurments, but I ran into a similar problem. I ended up using the angle iron from a bed frame to set the seat back as far as I could to get clearance. The bed frames worked well and made a pretty simple fix, took less than 30min from design to the last bolt.
