  • 4" lift vs spring over

Ok fellow jeepers, I'm thinking of buying a 4" lift for my 79'cj7. Any lift better than the other? Also what do you think about a spring over lift? Any suggestions?

I ran 4" lifts for years. Just completed a SOA using stock CJ rear springs and love it...wondering why I waited so long to do it. It rides much better and articulates twice as good.

I used stock CJ rear springs (front and back). Just welded new spring perches on top of the axles and relocated the shock mounts. I had a guy in my club fabricate the aluminum steering links. I built up the passenger side steering knuckle to get the drag link over the spring. This is working great so far but I plan on replacing with dana 44 flat top knuckes in the near future. I ended up using pro comp 11" travel shocks in front and 10 1/2" travel in rear. I havent used a swaybar for years using a 4" lift...but with the spring over its needed if you plan on driving on the road.
Here is a pick of the pass side knuck:
