  • Replacing my model 20 rear end

Need to replace my AMC 20 rear end. Any suggestions?

What is wrong with it? From the research I have done, I am keeping mine, swapping shafts and welding the housing.

Is yours shot, grenaded, bent, pretzled, snapped, or just undesireable?

If it is beyond repair, look for a Dana 44 IMHO. I understand Scout axles can be made to fit. Do a few searches, there have been some good discussions on this in here recently. (look for M20 or AMC model 20.)

Gryphon is right. if you upgrade to one piece shafts (good ones that is) and weld the tubes, your axle will be stronger than a d44.
