  • fuse fails again & again

I have a 98 grand cherokee laredo that keeps blowing the #5 20 amp fuse in the power dist. center under the hood. The engine will just shut off at any time. I have noticed that it seems to be when it is idling , if that makes any difference. No one can find the reason. Sometimes I just had the key in the on position and as soon as I put a new fuse in it blows immediatly. Any one else ever have this problem? I would appreciate any help or feedback. thanks.

You'll need to trace the wires back from the fuse post through the wire harness. Sounds a lot like you've got a short in the harness at the firewall. It's a PIA to trace, but shorts or overloads are the only thing that will keep blowing the fuse.

Get a diagram and see what the fuse feeds. If it feeds the o2 sensors I have had issues with Jeep o2's shorting(heater circuit).

Edit: Don't go replace all the o2's find out wich one is shorted or it may be something else.
