  • Shifting out of 4wd.

    I keep getting told that after using my 4wd that I need to back up a sort distance to completly disengage it. I do it but I'm looking for a straight answer....and yup it's stock..manual.

    That has to do with the vaccum disconect on the axle.

    It's not necessary, heck you could totally eliminate the disconnect and you would be fine.

    Not sure if it actually does anything but the idea is to aid the disconnect in disconnecting.

      not unless you're hung up in low range.... Shift on the fly and let up on the gas, then back into it. and you should be fine...

        I have heard that about older trucks with automatic locking hubs but not jeeps.
