    i just bought my first jeep. an 87 wrangler. apperently i have the stock pogeau 5spd. tranny in it. how has everyone faired out with these tranny's. i'm about to drop a new motor in it. should i swap out trannys to. if this one goes out how easy will i find somthing to bolt up to my 4.2L 258.

    If you can

    afford it!! go for a AX15 swap but because the BA4 has smaller output splines you'll have to replace the transfer case too. But well worth the money and effort. Good luck

        Mine worked fine behind a 258. I swapped it out after I swapped in a 4.0 and really because I got a deal on the whole thing.

        An ax-15 will work well behind a 258 if that is what you are sticking with. You will need to do some conversion -> http://www.google.com/search?q=ba+10...-US:unofficial
        You'll need to change the transfercase input to a 23 spline from a 21. Or just take the transfercase with the tranny if you can work out a deal.
