  • Help me chase down the vibration

When I am sitting at idle the Jeep vibrates pretty bad. The shop that put my engine in also replaced engine mount brackets. They said the motor mounts were still ok, which makes sense because they were replaced in 2002. I can hear the heat shield or something from the muffler or cat. converter rattling.
There is no problem when I'm driving, only at idle do I notice this.
If the engine mount is good, that leads me to suspect the tranny mount. I will get under there and check that this weekend.

Does anyone have any other things I should check?

    New motor, new mounts.

all three...look for the exhaust pipe coming across the belly pan and hitting it.
    Good luck

hopefully something simple like the cat

I had a similar issue a few years back, it ended up being my cat rattling off t-case skid plate. A few tack welds fixed that issue (it's a pain to drop the t-case mid jan without a garage and weld - so that is why the tack welds). the welds held up fine until i replaced the full exhaust a few months later.

I can hear the cat rattling around. Where did you put the tack welds?

Its your cat coming apart inside doing all the ratting, nothing to do there, but replace it. Good luck
