  • I can't let leadfoot have all the fun now

well it all started with this thing
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...p/S4020826.jpg
it was binding in my tranny along with the brakes going bad on this pos
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...p/S4020649.jpg
    so i swapped in this
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...p/S4020766.jpg
    nice blue u bolt huh
so since i was stupid enough to get the wrong gears in the 8.8 i got these
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...p/S4020833.jpg
still have to put them in :/ no one local is cheap so i will do it myself, dad was a machinist so he has all the set up tools i need
and I tried to be different on my rims so i did this
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...p/S4020730.jpg
the blue ones look like m&m's in person so I am going to do them black/aluminum instead of black/blue
getting these from my bro since he just got 38x14.5 SX's
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...p/S4020825.jpg
the one on the far left 36" sx's
you think my rear main is gone??
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...p/S4020827.jpg
and while installing my SYE i noticed the P/o had an accident
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...p/S4020640.jpg
bet that was a fun day...
and I got tired of seeing the crappy tan color so i painted my plastic
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...p/S4020828.jpg
well I still have alot more to do but I figured that was enough to start a thread I still need to set up my gears, install the M.O.R.E. steering fix, convince myself to get the wagoneer springs for 4" more WB and make my flatskid with custom traction bars, and beef up my TBT rollbar, and get a few odds and ins, then put my junk all back together take it to wellsville to test it, brake it, bring it back here and repeat the entire process

        36" sx's rock
        http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...p/S4020844.jpg
I could get about 1 1/4" more if I shave the bottom of the 8.8 but I really dont want to I think I have enough there

the ones that were on it when i got it, but it may be 2" lift springs because they are not sitting dead flat and I got it with 30" tires on it and it looked halfway descent, not all bunched up in the flare. I am probably goint to get the 7 leaf waggy springs though to help with the axle wrap, and give me 4" more wb.

and this is what happens when a Hi-Lift shifts and the jeep comes back down on the jackstand so fast you jamb a few fingers on the bumper
              http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...g/S4020919.jpg
and this convinced me to get 2" waggy spings
              http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...g/S4020922.jpg

Ty, nothing to update on really, been working so much . But I installed all of my steering stuff (HD flaming river shaft, AGR steering components), I just need to put my PS pump back in. I had my Papa take it and put a press on the tin resivior so it would go down on the pump without bending it even though I had really fubared it. We will see if she holds fluid when I go and put it back on. Took me 4 days to get the oil pan off I would try and get it off after work for about 2 hrs every night till I got pissed off at the thing, when I finally got it off it had a 1/4" of rtv on the back of the pan I also went and got an XJ shaft that I am going to have shortened and balanced for the rear DS so that will save me alot of coin. No one seems to make an old school inch lbs torque wrench There will be a tool sale tomoro at some place and I saw they had one so I am gonna try and get some one to swing by there and pick me up one since I will be at work. I set the gears up the first time and it was off and I need a bearing seperator from somewhere to put shims under the pinion. I hope not from snap on since they want 70 for the one I need. I just went outside and pulled the rear main out with my bro since I could not get that out iether (wow I sound useless o wait, i am ) we got it out and it was hard as a brick! so I think I found my leak! and I bought a lower gasket set so I wont fight the pan again this winter when I put on a 4.0 head and cam I still can't find anyone cheaper then 400 an axle for my gears so I will set up both myself. The 8.8 is easy I just need tools. The D30 better go on the first time or i will be very unhappy because I will have to pull the bearings back off to re-shim it then press them back on. My papa said he would help me with my crossmember I want to make, I need brackets made up and he has the torch working on a flat skid. I am ordering waggy springs tomoro for the rear so I will help out my rear DS angle (it's ubernasty cause My calculations were wrong, I suck at math ) it is about 10* off or so. I will be getting 8* shims and the extra 2" wb will help. I am moving the gas tank in the back with soft lines for now and will save up for a fuel cell and some ss lines hmm lets see what else is left on this nightmare, o yeah, I have to drill and tap my knuckles and pitman arm for the M.O.R.E. steering fix 1 then I have to grind off my shock mounts get some ford towers and go flex for shocks then call up porc and let them cut me some or I may get some bilstiens but I doubt it cause I aint that rich, I after all, own a YJ not a yuppie TJ I will need some TJ flares for the rear ( I am flat fendering the front) to make up for the 2" wb stretch. So if some one has some let me know Then I will be close enough to done to wheel it, I will just putt around till I figure out what I want to do for a rear traction bar. I will most likely be getting the M.O.R.E. one when I get the cash towards the end of the build up. Then comes the good stuff. I will be adding onto my TBT cage to make it more like a real 6 point cage and some 4 point race seats more then likely the new carbeau *sp* with the double slots up at the top. I am shooting for a september roll date so we will see I am shooting to have it up at the thing in Oct. but I will most definatly be hitting up wellsville with Leadfoot for my 18th this coming april

                              You've GOT to be kidding...

Mudslinga... I don't see ANYTHING lazy about this project. It has obviously been one hell of a job and you're going to have an awesome machine to show for hangin' in there with it.
