Can anyone help me? The symptom is the Jeep just turns off. I can be sitting still or driving 50 mph. I just have to turn the key to the off position and restart. I seem to be smelling a lot of exhaust and the gas mileage sucks! Lately there has also been a rough idle. Changed to pcv valve and fuel filter, but I am a novice and don't know what's next. Several people have said it is a bad distributor. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

First, post this up in the CJ forum. Thats where the guys who know how to help you best look for topics like this.
Cutting out....with fuel smell and exhaust. When did this start happening? Have you checked or changed your fuel filter? Is there gas in your oil? Any foaming of your oil? Look on the driver's side under the hood. Right below the back of your fuse box should be a black cannister. This is part of your evap system. Check that for loose, cracked or missing hoses. There should be three is your system is stock. Could also be carb related or electrical. How old is your spark box? It's an aluminum box located on your driver's side inner fender well under the hood. They usually just die and so does your rig, but it could be the box is dying and resets when you cycle your ignition. Have you checked your cap and rotor?
